Wayne E. Koenig

Wayne E. Koenig, 83, Beatrice died Monday, January 09, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice.  He was born November 5, 1933 in Beatrice.  Wayne graduated from Beatrice High School in 1951. He married Pearl Andersen on April 10, 1955 in Beatrice. Wayne built and owned several hotels, rentals along with building many homes in and around Beatrice.  He enjoyed the farm, his dogs, drawing house plans, hanging around the kitchen watching birds, appreciated art, reading books, doing needlepoint and developed a passion for theology and prophecy.

Survivors include daughter, Sandy Eckhoff and Wayne Lomax of Beatrice, NE; 3 sons, Randy Koenig and wife Terry of Lawrence, KS, Rick Koenig and Melanie Laflin of Filley, NE, and Steve Koenig and wife Brenda of Lincoln, NE; daughter-in-law, Cheri Koenig of rural DeWitt, NE;  grandchildren, Nicole, Joshua, Andrew, Benjamin, Casey, Jesse, Angela, Travis, and Tyler Koenig, Jennifer and Joseph Condon, Alex and Miranda Eckhoff; step-grandchildren, Tyler Laflin and Katie Trauernicht; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Duane Koenig and wife Vi of Beatrice; brother-in-law, Danny Andersen and wife Betty of Fernley, NV; Gloria Schmeeckle of Garden City, KS; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Elsa (Pfingsten) Koenig; wife, Pearl Koenig; infant daughter and an infant son.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Christ Community Church with Pastor Dan Martin officiating.  Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Harman-Wright Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church.  A memorial is established to Christ Community Church with the mortuary in charge.  www.harmanwrightmortuary.com Harman-Wright Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
