Rebecca "Becky" L. (Muenster) Gyhra

Rebecca L. “Becky” (Muenster) Gyhra, 70 years of age, of Denver, Colorado, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 of natural causes. She was born in Beatrice, Nebraska on November 20, 1944 to Theodore and Marcelene (Goble) Muenster. Becky graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with her bachelor’s degree in Education. She married Norman Gyhra and moved to Denver, Colorado in 1967 where she lived until her time of death. Becky worked for Denver Public Schools since 1977. She had a passion for childhood literacy and taught many grade levels and programs at two elementary schools in the Denver metropolitan area. She recently retired from Marrama Elementary in May 2015. Becky was an avid reader and was known to read 3 or 4 books at a time. She was a loyal mother, friend and grandmother. Becky loved to watch the Cornhuskers on television. She liked to travel with friends and spent a lot of time working on lesson plans for her students.

Becky is survived by her 3 children, Carrie Comeford and husband Pat of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Jon Gyhra and wife Amy Tabor of Centennial, Colorado, Amber Gyhra of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Mykaela Gyhra-Tabor, Cooper Comeford; brother, Ted Muenster and his wife Karen of Vermillion, South Dakota in addition to hundreds of fellow educators and grateful former students. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Norman Gyhra.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, November 13, 2015 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Rev. David Bigley officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. A register book will be available to sign from 9 AM to 5 PM Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. A memorial is suggested to the Muenster Scholarship Fund at the University of Nebraska Foundation in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
