Marvin Lee Wiegand, 79, Beatrice died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln. He was born June 18, 1937 in Beatrice and grew up south of Beatrice. Marvin graduated from Holmesville High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He married Nadene Kresak at the First Christian Church, Beatrice on June 7, 1964. Marvin worked at Store Kraft MFG and then 31 years for Northern Natural Gas Co retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Bitting-Norman Post 27 of the American Legion, Geddes-Thober Post 1077 VFW and St. Paul Lutheran Church all of Beatrice. He enjoyed driving cars for a local dealership, hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, dancing and gardening. Marvin enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities, and giving the grandchildren rides on his antique John Deere tractor.
Survivors include his wife, Nadene of Beatrice; daughters, Lisa Robertson and Kris Robertson of Lincoln, and Lana Clapper and husband Tim of Beatrice; grandchildren, Tyler Lee & Makenna Marie Robertson of Lincoln and Caden Lee & Makenzie Lee Clapper of Beatrice; sisters, Janice McAllister and Carolyn Wiegand both of Beatrice; several nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold J. and Anita M. (Siems) Wiegand; brother, Robert Wiegand; brother-in-law, Hubert McAllister and nephew, Paul McAllister.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice with Pastor Douglas Irmer officiating. A family prayer service will be held 9:45 a.m. in the church basement. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Harman-Wright Mortuary. The family will greet friends Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials are established to the family’s choice with the mortuary in charge.
