Martin W. Jordening, 87 years of age, of Lincoln, formerly of Fairbury, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Regional Medical Center in Lincoln. He was born July 18, 1927 to Conrad and Alvina (Drees) Jordening at Daykin. He grew up in the Daykin area and after graduating from Daykin High School, joined the U.S. Army. After returning from the service, he married Evelyn Grummert on September 3, 1950 at Peace Lutheran Church at Plymouth. Martin was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Daykin, holding many offices throughout the years including treasurer, trustee, elder and chairman. He was also a member of the Sportsman Club of Jefferson County.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn of Lincoln; daughter, Debra Krumvieda and husband Jerry of Lincoln; 2 granddaughters, Stacy Hillman and husband Scott of Syracuse, Shelley Harding and husband Bobby of Omaha; 5 great-grandchildren Trevor and Chloe Hillman, Michael, Nicholas and Zachary Harding; brother, Leo Jordening of Fairbury; and 3 sisters-in-law, Mildreth Jordening of Blue Hill, Dolores Eggert of Plymouth, Roberta Aden and husband Harold of DeWitt; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lynn Ranae Jordening; 3 brothers Edwin and wife Edna, Raymond and wife Marjorie, Norman; cousin, Nora Cuda; 3 brothers-in-law, Leland Grummert, Norman Eggert, Glenn Sobotka; and a sister-in-law, Darlane Jordening.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Daykin with Pastor Paul Beyer officiating. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Daykin. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with family greeting friends from 4:30 to 6 PM Friday, April 3, 2015 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lutheran Hour Ministries in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
