IdaBell (Bitting) Bishop Meirath

IdaBell (Bitting) Bishop Meirath, 92 years of age, of Beatrice, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at Beatrice Health & Rehabilitation in Beatrice. She was the fourth of ten children to Herbert and Elsie (Seward) Bitting. IdaBell grew up in Beatrice and worked cleaning people’s homes during her teen years. She attended Beatrice Public Schools, graduating in 1941. It was at this time that IdaBell met her husband George Bishop. George entered the Army and after his discharge, they were married on March 13, 1942. To this union were born six children. After George’s death in May of 1965, IdaBell went to Beautician School and got her cosmetologist license in June of 1966. She had a shop on the west side for many years. IdaBell married Marvin Meirath on August 5, 1965 at the First Christian Church in Beatrice. IdaBell and Marvin both retired and traveled to visit family and spend time with their grandchildren. IdaBell loved her family and especially enjoyed getting together during the holidays.

IdaBell is survived by 3 sons, John Bishop and special friend Brenda Sedlacek, Dennis Bishop, both of Beatrice, Michael Bishop and wife Bonnie of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 2 daughters, Jayne Smith and husband Ron of Beatrice, Sally Howe and husband Jim of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Debbie Bishop of Beatrice; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, June Weichal and husband Vernon of Plymouth; and sister-in-law, Ardy Bitting of Beatrice. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, George Bishop; 2nd husband, Marvin Meirath on March 23, 1994; son, David Bishop; 3 grandchildren; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley officiating. Private family inurnment will take place in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 PM Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
