Rose E. (Simmons) Nicholson

Rose E. Nicholson, 88, of Beatrice, died Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Beatrice Community Hospital.  She was born February 28, 1928 at Marysville, KS.  She attended school in Beatrice.  She married Ivan Nicholson on August 20, 1950 at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Beatrice, NE.  She was a member of the F.O.E Eagles Aerie #531 Auxiliary, the Odd Fellows Lodge and the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Beatrice, NE.  She enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping, gardening and canning.  She loved being a mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, David Nicholson and wife Jackie of Lincoln; daughters,  Joyce Perry and husband Paul of Lincoln, Carol Price and husband Wallace of Olathe, KS, Diane King and husband Rodney of Venice, FL, Teresa Langley and husband Tom of Beatrice; daughter-in-law,  Angie Nicholson-Sherrill of Lincoln, NE; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. brother, Kenneth Cumpston of Ord, NE; sisters-in-law, Mary Healey of Grass Valley, CA, Ruth Ann Maxson of Beatrice; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Nicholson (11/14/11); son, Roger Nicholson (11/19/10); infant son, Jimmy “James” Dean; daughter-in-law, Jackie Nicholson; parents, Albert and Ethel (Hatley) Simmons; brothers, William Dean Simmons, Virgil Simmons ,Donald Simmons and Allen Niles Simmons.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley, officiating.  Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery, Beatrice    Visitation will be held at Harman-Wright Mortuary from  9:00 a.m.to 9:00 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, and also at the church one hour preceding services. Memorial established to the Family’s Choice with the mortuary in charge. A register book is also available online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com for messages of condolence.  Harman-Wright Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
