Leo J. Kelly, 90 years of age, of Beatrice, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016. He was born on September 12, 1925 in Cambridge to L.J. and Helen (Alcorn) Kelly. Leo served his country in the United States Navy for 2 ½ years during WWII. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Kearney State College. Leo married Bonnie “Brandy” Brown in 1950 in Holdrege. He received his Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Leo retired as Professor Emeritus with the University System of Georgia. He served on the Beatrice Public Works and Southeast Community College Boards and was active in the Chamber Ambassadors and Sertoma Club of Beatrice. Leo was a member of several organizations including the American Legion and VFW. In retirement, he became a massage therapist and an internationally certified reflexologist. Leo enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, antique dealing, reading, traveling, rescuing animals, community service and volunteering.

Leo is survived by his wife Bonnie “Brandy”; 4 daughters, Ray Kelly of Beatrice, Ava Jo Kelly of Lincoln, Stacey Berman of Castle Rock, Colorado, Lynn Stevens of Parker, Colorado; and 4 grandsons, Hart, Reed, L.J. and Heath. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joy; and brother, Arland who was killed fighting in WWII.

Inurnment will take place in Greeley, Colorado. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
