Walton “Eagle” Eugene Jernigan, 94 years of age, of Beatrice, formerly of McCook passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. He was born on October 11, 1928 in Burlingame, Kansas to Clyde and Ella Jernigan. Eagle served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from September 22, 1951 to September 21, 1954. He enjoyed classic cars, welding, working for the Decatur County, Kansas Department of Roads, attending pow wows and Indian crafts.
Eagle is survived by his wife, Debbie of McCook; children, Tena Jernigan and fiancé Jon Reed of Beatrice, Eugene “Gene” Jernigan and wife Judy of Carbondale, Kansas, Jeni Bahnmaier of Osage City, Kansas, Anthony Jernigan of Lawrence, Kansas, Penny Brown of Clyde, Kansas, Pat Jernigan and wife Shawndra of Arkansas City, Kansas; grandson, Aiden Murray; several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joann “Joey” Jernigan; and son, Doug Jernigan.
Services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
