Teddy “Tod” Lawrence Bright, 82 years old of Beatrice passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation in Beatrice. He was born on January 22, 1942, in Genoa, Nebraska to Teddy J. and Margaret (Kahl) Bright. Teddy was raised for a short time in Silver Creek, Nebraska before attending grade school in Genoa. He then attended Duncan High School in Duncan, Nebraska graduating with the class of 1961. After graduating, Teddy then enlisted in the Army National Guard and completed his six-month training at Fort Ord, California. On January 26, 1962, Teddy was united in marriage to Rachel Blaser at St. Luke’s Congregational Church in Columbus, Nebraska. To this union two sons, Timothy and Todd were born. The couple lived for 42 years in Duncan where Teddy worked for 26 years at the Augustine Brothers cattle lot near Shelby, Nebraska. He then worked for himself for five years as an electrician, before working 17 years at Emerson Electric in Columbus until retirement. Teddy and Rachel moved to Odell, Nebraska in 2003 to be closer to their sons. Teddy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Odell and the Odell Legion Post 231. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and gardening.
Teddy is survived by his wife Rachel of Beatrice, his son Todd of Beatrice, his sister Margaret Nyffler of Columbus, NE; his brother Robert Bright and his wife Connie of Bellwood, NE; sisters-in-law: Joann Bright of rural Shelby, NE; Kate Blaser of Lakewood, CO; Phyllis Blaser of Duncan, NE; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Timothy Bright, his sister Alyce (Jerome) Nyffler, his brother Duane Bright and brothers-in-law Don Nyffler and Eldon Blaser
Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Odell (American) Cemetery in Odell, Nebraska with Pastor Hollis Patterson officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Odell Legion Post 231. Lunch will follow services at the Legion Club in Odell. Memorials contributions are suggested to cancer research or to the Parkinsons Foundation.
