Shirley A. (Willet) Neumann

Shirley A. (Willet) Neumann, 87 years of age, of Lincoln, formerly of DeWitt, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at The Landing in Lincoln. She was born on August 24, 1938 on a farm near Blue Springs to Earl and Lydia (Rohrdanz) Willet. As a young girl, Shirley lived in Wymore and moved to Beatrice in 1952. She worked at the Beatrice Gas Company after graduating high school, then SWCD in Gage County, Tri County High School, Beatrice Hospital and Petersen Manufacturing Company until she retired. Shirley was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and belonged to LWML, serving as Treasurer and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved being with her family, dancing, quilting, gardening and being a beloved grandmother to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Walter; sons, Steve Hartley and wife Susan of Beatrice, Greg Hartley and wife Annette of Haysville, Kansas, Ryan Neumann and wife Christy of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Louise Neumann of La Vista, Joyce Neumann of DeWitt; and brother-in-law, Bud Allen of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Keith Hartley; sisters, Irene Earnhart and husband Wayne, Ruby Hughes and husband Dale, Amy Allen and husband Harold, Viola Allen; brothers, Raymond, Edward, Arnold and “Doc” Willet; and brother-in-law, Herman F. Neumann.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, January 5, 2026 at First Trinity Lutheran Church west of Beatrice with Pastor Timothy Wagner officiating. The service will be live streamed the the First Trinity facebook page. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM Monday. Visitation will be held at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 1 to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 1 to 3 PM. Memorials are suggested to the First Trinity Lutheran Cemetery for Perpetual Care in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
