Shirley Irene (Carrel) Kadlec

Shirley Irene (Carrel) Kadlec, 87 years of age, of Beatrice passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on October 22, 1936 in Beatrice to William and Lucinda (Newell) Carrel. Shirley attended school in Beatrice. She met the love of her life Alvin Kadlec and they were married on August 9, 1953 and to this union, one daughter was born, Diana Lynn. They lived in Beatrice for a few years before making their home in Lincoln. Shirley worked 25 years for Wonder Bread before retiring and moving to Beatrice. She enjoyed decorating their home for every season of the year.

Shirley is survived by a daughter, Diana Springer of Lincoln; granddaughter, Amy Springer of Omaha; great granddaughter, Amanda; brother, John Carrel and wife Sue of Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Delores Kadlec of Minnesota, Peggy Carrel of Beatrice; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Kadlec; two baby siblings; brother, Ron Carrel; sister, Beverly Philippi and husband Clair; parents-in-law, Aldrich and Esther Kadlec; 3 sisters-in-law; and 1 brother-in-law, Vernon Kadlec.

There will be no services at this time. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
