Richard “Dick” B. Sanford, 81 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Monday, April 5, 2021. He was born on April 2, 1940 in Northfield, Minnesota to Harold and Dorothy (Roach) Sanford. Dick graduated from high school in McHenry, Illinois. He served his country in the United States Navy from January 22, 1959 to December 22, 1960. After time in the service, Dick earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. He married Judy Emery on September 6, 1969 and to this union three children were born, Curt, Carrie and Kevin. Dick later married Marjie Boro. At one time, Dick was the youngest Vice President in Chicago, Illinois for the Continental Insurance Company and later in life he worked for several different companies as an insurance underwriter. After retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed working as a security guard in Phoenix, Arizona. Dick was a former Mason, Shriner and member of the Moose Lodge in Phoenix. He enjoyed guns, reading, golfing, supporting the Art Institute of Chicago and especially spending time with family.
Dick is survived by his children, Curt Sanford and wife Michelle, Carrie Leseberg and husband Chad, both of Beatrice, Kevin Sanford and significant other Giselle Covalt of Lincoln; step-children and their families, Debbie Boro of Richmond, Illinois, John Boro of San Diego, California, Doug Boro of Germany; grandchildren, Ashley Anderson, Tyler Sasse and husband Elliot, Collin Leseberg, Alyssa Sanford, Logan Sanford and wife Kalli, Rylee Sanford and significant other Jastin Two Crow; great grandchildren, Paisley, Paiton, Ellisyn and Everlee; sister, Laurie Doherty of North Carolina; and friend, Judy Sanford of Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marjie Sanford; and brother, Joe Sanford.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
