Marlyn Lebert Cullison Jr, 89, Beatrice, Nebraska, died Saturday March 21, 2020 at the Beatrice Community Hospital. He was born January 3, 1931 to Marlyn Sr and Elsie (Lund) Cullison in Beatrice. Marlyn graduated from Beatrice High School in 1950. He joined the United States Army on January 11, 1951 and served until January 10, 1955. Marlyn received a degree in accounting from Lincoln School of Commerce. He married Alberta Schwisow on April 23, 1958 in Clatonia, NE. Marlyn was welder for Tote Systems, Petersen MFG/American Tool. He attended Christ Community Church, was a member of the VFW, DAV and the American Legion Club all of Beatrice. Marlyn enjoyed his many years in scouting, being a foster grandparent, working with numbers, watching Rick Rohr race racecars, and was a fireworks fanatic. Keeping with Marlyn’s love for helping others, he was a tissue and skin donor.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta; daughters, Sharon Solum (Jim) of Morehead, MN; Rhondarae Henderson, of Beatrice; Sharlynn Torkelson (Brenden) Fargo, ND; and Janis Turner (Sid) of Beatrice; son, Chris Cullison, of Beatrice; grandchildren Adam Turner (Allison) of Lincoln, NE, Alicia Turner of Beatrice, Josh Turner (Lindsey) of Hickman, NE, Jacob Turner of Beatrice, Missy Sand(Jason) of Beatrice, Darin Fentress (Donavon) Chicago, IL, Phillip Henderson of Beatrice, Ben Solum (Tiffany) Olathe, KS, Aaron Henderson of Lincoln, NE, Tim Solum of Lenexa, KS. Matthew Torkelson of Fargo, ND, Jon Henderson of Beatrice, NE, Rebekah Henderson of Sioux Falls, SD; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ryan, Logan, Cooper, Evelyn, Ella, Maddie, Mason, and Tori; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Cheryle Cullison of Wymore, NE, Arthur Schwisow (Ruth) of Las Vegas, NV, Lyle Schwisow (Karlene) of Wilber, NE, Roger Schwisow (Eldonna) of Lincoln, NE, and James Schwisow (Cindy) of Milton, WI; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlyn Sr. and Elise Cullison; brother, Robert (Bob) Cullison; and sister, Betty Wihelm and husband Raymond.
Private graveside services will be held 1:30 P.M. Friday, March 27, 2020 at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state for limited visitation from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, March 26, 2020. A memorial is suggested to the Foster Grandparent program or Christ Community Church with the mortuary in charge. Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date.
