Marla K. (Beard) Wilcox

Marla K. (Beard) Wilcox, 79 years of age, of Blue Springs passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center. She was born on November 2, 1946 in Beatrice to James and Nellie (Frank) Beard. Marla attended Beatrice High School. She married Garry Wilcox on September 5, 1965 in Beatrice. Marla worked at Campbell’s Soup, BSDC and retired after 27 years from Grandma’s Fruitcake. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Beatrice. Marla lived a simple and good life and enjoyed fishing, camping, yardwork, baking, cooking, doing hair for friends and family and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Marla is survived by her husband, Garry; son, Don Wilcox and wife Donna of Beatrice; grandchildren, Josh Wilcox, Eric Wilcox and significant other Ember Myers, Michaela Burck and husband Paul; great grandchildren, Emilee, Brayden, Zahra, Blayne, Noah, Hunter, Addisyn, Owen, Haygen, Maverick; brothers, Garry Beard and significant other Ester Gutierrez of Texas, Ron Andrews of Virginia; special friends, Gwen Lachowski, Suzanne Lawhorne; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Candace Wilcox; grandson, Jacoby Wilcox; brothers, Kenneth Andrews and wife Chad, James Andrews and wife Bev, John Andrews and wife Virg, Larry Andrews; sisters, Barbara Orth and husband Roland, Norma Alexander and husband James; brother-in-law, Charles Wilcox Jr. and wife Carole; sisters-in-law, Jan Andrews, Marcia Lawhorne and husband George; and close life long friends, Sharon Holtmeier and Sandy Oltman.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor Jeff Girdner officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from noon to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Disabled American Veterans in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
