Loyal M. Milligan

Loyal M. Milligan, 91 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023. He was born on September 14, 1931 in Wymore to Asa and Frances (Widener) Milligan. Loyal attended Wymore High School and served his country in the United States Marines from April 15, 1952 to April 14, 1954. He married Julia Hill on September 11, 1953 in Beatrice. Loyal had many jobs including at F.D. Kees, Endicott Clay and Gibb’s. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed tinkering, fishing, working on bicycles and lawn mowers, playing pitch at the bar, westerns, country music, coffee, cookies and collecting hats.

Loyal is survived by his daughters, Lorraine McAtee of Firth, Sandra Milligan of Beatrice; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild with 1 on the way; sister, Helen Lloyd of Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Julia on April 29, 2016; son-in-law, Jerry McAtee; 2 great grandchildren; and 14 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, July 3, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice with Father Joseph Faulkner officiating. Interment with military rites by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation with family present will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
