Laura Kay (Quick) Helms

Laura Kay (Quick) Helms, 66 years of age, of Pickrell passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center. She was born on June 18, 1958 in Anthony, Kansas to Kenneth and Patricia (Lewis) Quick. Laura grew up in Anthony, Kansas and graduated from Chaparral High School. She met Robert Helms in 1987 and they married on April 20, 1991. They lived several places including Pawnee City, Beatrice and DeWitt before moving to Pickrell so Laura could be closer to work. Laura worked for over 30 years at Beatrice State Developmental Center. She enjoyed coffee, her pets, utilizing her laptop, phone and TV and especially time with her grandchildren.

Laura is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Latricia Fazel and husband Chris of Lewiston; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Riley and Adalade; brother, Jerry Quick of Wichita; mother-in-law, Ila Helms of Pawnee City; and nephews, Arron and Darin Vinsonhaler of Beatrice. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Timothy Quick; sister, Betty Vinsonhaler; brothers, Kenneth and Bobby; and father-in-law, Ralph Helms.

Committal Services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Oak Grove Cemetery west of DeWitt with Pastor David Bigley officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
