Laura G. (McCown) Bartels

Laura G. (McCown) Bartels, 63 years of age, of Beatrice passed away at home surrounded by family on Monday, March 31, 2025. She was born on June 16, 1961 in Buena Park, California to Vern and Emogene (Ledbetter) McCown. Laura graduated from Beatrice High School and earned her associate’s degree in nursing. She worked as an LPN at several places including Beatrice Community Hospital, BSDC, Gold Crest and the Wymore Good Samaritan Society. Laura married Alan Bartels on May 5, 1990 and to this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Amanda. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Wymore. Laura was a social person and enjoyed road trips, car rides, exploring and finding new places, casinos, getting her hair and nails done, the mountains in Colorado and watching The Young and the Restless.

Laura is survived by her husband, Alan; daughter, Amanda Bartels of Beatrice; mother-in-law, Shirley Bartels of Blue Springs; siblings, Dave Bailey and wife Sue of California, William Bailey of New York, Karla Pittman of Beatrice; nieces and nephew, Shawna, Jessica, Kayla, Austin, Jennifer; and great nieces, Chenoa and Tehya. She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Delbert Bartels; and brothers, Russell McCown and Dennis McCown.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, April 4, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pleasantview Cemetery near Pickrell. There will be no viewing but a register book will be available on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from 9 AM to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family to help with medical bills in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
