Kaylene Smith Obituary

Kaylene Mae (Hoffhine) Smith, 82 years of age, of Beatrice passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 13, 2019. She was born on April 14, 1937 in Anaconda, Montana to Clayton and Frances Mae (Camp) Hoffhine. Kaylene graduated from Barneston High School. She married Donald L. Smith on June 6, 1974. Kaylene was an avid Husker Football fan and enjoyed fishing, her animals, traveling and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kaylene is survived by her children, Susan Shepler and husband Gary of DeWitt, Dale Smith and wife Joyce of Seward, Terry Kurth and wife Cindy of Westminster, Colorado, Dan Smith and wife Peg of Holmen, Wisconsin, Lori Tanner of Omaha, Nancy Simpson of Beatrice, Pam Fralin and husband Richard of DeWitt, Cindy Johnson of Mesa, Arizona; 22 grandchildren; and 46 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald L. Smith; grandson, Adam Smith; and great grandson, Jaxon Kurth.

Graveside inurnment will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 19, 2019 in the Harbine Cemetery near Harbine. A luncheon will follow from noon to 2 PM at the DeWitt United Methodist Church in DeWitt. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
