Kathy R. (Cookus) Buhr

Kathy R. Buhr, 60 years of age, of Beatrice passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 12, 2022 at Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center in Beatrice. She was born on December 9, 1961. Kathy graduated from Beatrice High School. She married Keith Buhr in 2012. Kathy worked in many different roles at Walmart in Beatrice. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Beatrice, Order of the Eastern Star and Relay for Life. Kathy enjoyed crafts, cooking, visiting shut-ins and volunteering.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Keith; brother, Rick Cookus; parents-in-law, Arnold and Lois Buhr, all of Beatrice; brother-in-law, Arlan Buhr and wife Karen of Omaha; sisters-in-law, wife Jeanette Dorn and husband Leon of Firth, Carol Oltman and husband Gene of Cortland, Nancy Copenhaver of Havelock; two nieces, Lisa Cerveny and husband Brian, Bethany Adams and husband Jordan, both of Beatrice; three great nephews; two great nieces; cousins, David Milke and Rosemary Milke, both of Beatrice; and several other cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan (Milke) Metcalf and husband John; daughter, Renee Petree; niece, Courtney Cookus; grandparents, John and Fern (Workman) Milke; and uncle, Ronald Milke and wife Donna.

Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Evergreen Home Cemetery with Pastor Mike Hanneman and Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from noon to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 7 to 8 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
