Judy Ann (Ames) Prebyl, 74 years of age, of Beatrice passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the Wilber Care Center in Wilber. She was born on October 29, 1949 at the Beatrice Lutheran Hospital to Jesse and Evelyn (Wilhelm) Ames. Judy was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beatrice and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School through 8th grade. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1968. Judy met the love of her life, Dennis Prebyl and they were married on February 28, 1968. She worked at the Beatrice Coop for 23 years. Judy also worked 5 years at Parkview Village and several other odd jobs until her retirement at age 62. She loved working in the garden, canning, watching NASCAR with Dennis, Nebraska football, fishing, camping and deer hunting with Terry and Bruce. Most of all, Judy enjoyed helping Tammy with school activities, spending time with her grandson Brenden, going to most of his activities and great times with her nieces and nephews.
Judy is survived by her loving daughter, Tammy Waltke and husband Mike of Clatonia; grandson, Brenden Waltke; brother, David Ames of Norfolk; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Rippe of Beatrice, Bev Prebyl of DeWitt; brother-in-law, Robert Janssen of Beatrice; special friend, Brenda; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis on April 21, 2020; sister, Connie Janssen; brother, Larry Ames; brother-in-law, John Prebyl; sister-in-law, DeAnn Ames; parents-in-law, Edward and Marjorie (Cook) Prebyl; and nephew and niece, Joe and Renda Husa.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Casual attire is suggested. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Odell Czech Cemetery north of Odell. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
