Judy Fae (Burton) Halvorson

Judy Fae Halvorson, 76 years of age, of Beatrice passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 4, 2025. She was born on May 7, 1948 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota to Alvin and Mildred (Staskivige) Burton. Judy graduated from East Grand Forks High School in 1966. Judy married Vince Halvorson on February 11, 1967 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Vince worked with the National Park Service for over 25 years, starting at Fort Sumter/Fort Moultrie in Charleston, South Carolina. In 1970, they moved to the Homestead National Park in Beatrice, Nebraska. During that time Judy worked for the Beatrice Daily Sun in the circulation department. In 1994, after 13 years in Minnesota, they retired back in Beatrice. Judy loved working part time as a cashier at Heartland Grocery (now Russ’s) interacting with her many customers. Any spare time she had was spent reading books and gardening. In her later years she became an avid fan of the Huskers volleyball team and both Huskers basketball teams.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Erin and husband Jeff Schuld of Cibolo, Texas; grandson, Dustyn Schuld and his wife Kristena of New Braunfels, Texas; grandson, Jordyn Schuld and significant other, Allyson Busby of Cibolo, Texas; her sister, Shirley Bramhall of Spanaway, Washington; along with nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
