Judith “Judy” Ann (Lohman) Garton, 77 years of age, of Diller passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln. She was born on January 8, 1944 in Fairbury to Elmer and Pauline “Dolly” (Detter) Lohman. Judy grew up in Harbine and graduated from Diller High School in 1961. She was united in marriage to Virgil Garton on July 16, 1961 at the Hope Evangelical and Reformed Church at Harbine where she was also baptized and confirmed earlier in life. To this union, 3 children were born: Amy, Rick and Naomi. Throughout her life, Judy touched many lives from her in home daycare and working in the Diller Schools, the local cafés and the Orange Bowl bowling alley for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1961 where she was active in many roles. Judy enjoyed spending time with family and attending many activities for her own children through her great grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her husband, Virgil; children, Amy Breeden of Beatrice; Rick Garton and wife Annette of Diller, Naomi Harlan and husband Jeff of Beatrice; grandchildren, Danielle Breeden, Ryan Breeden and wife Brandy; Bradley Hawkins, Crystal Snyder and husband Tyler, Makayla Koch and husband Alex, Camden Harlan, Ciara Harlan, Jordan Harlan, Cody Harlan; great grandchildren, Quincy and Mikyla Breeden, Dru, Hoyt and Trey Breeden, Melissa Imig, Skylar Hawkins, Scarlett and Morgan Steensnes, Lexie and Gunner Snyder, Landon, Lawson and Layton Koch; sisters, Cathy Akin, Jan Woodrum, both of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Virginia Beckmann and husband Jerry of Lincoln, Maxine Davidson and husband Kurt of Syracuse, Vickie Garton of Lincoln; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Dan and Jennie Garton; sister, Marilyn Jones; brother (in-law), Darwin Garton; and brother-in-law, Jim Akin.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 3, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Diller with Pastor Mark Liscom officiating. Masks and social distancing are required at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Prairie Home Cemetery near Diller. There will be no viewing but a register book will be available to sign from 9 AM to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 4 to 6 PM Friday, April 2, 2021 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
