Judith Adelia Applegarth, 82, of Beatrice, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Beatrice Health & Rehab. She was born March 24, 1937 in Washington, Kansas, to Ernest and Beulah (Elder) Stamm.
Judy received her teaching certificate from Fairbury Junior College in 1956 and taught at Bondville country school for two years. She married Walt Applegarth on June 23, 1957, in Washington Kansas. They lived in Grovetown, Georgia from 1959 to 1961, where Walt served in the U.S. Army. In 1962 they settled in Steele City, Nebraska, where Walt worked for the railroad, and later for Canning Truck Service, while Judy devoted her life to raising their children. In 1973, they moved to Beatrice, where Judy served briefly as a registered nutritionist. They owned and operated The Rental Center until their retirement in 2005. To the couple were born three boys and two girls. In 1991 they adopted three beautiful girls, who were lovingly welcomed into the family. Walt and Judy were members of the Gideons International and the Finish Line Church of the Nazarene, where Judy taught Sunday School.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of nearly 62 years, Walt; sons Dennis and wife Norma of Beatrice, Doug and wife Nicki of York, and Darrel and wife Marissa of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughters Teri and husband Steve Bade of Cadillac, MI, Toni and husband Roger Clarin of Onamia, MN, Jenny and husband Tanner Hoyt of Lincoln, NE, Sierra and husband Michael McHenry of Paragould, AR, and Chantal States of Lincoln, NE; brother Stanford Stamm and wife Glenda, and sister Jeanette Stamm, all of Washington, Kansas, along with a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Beulah Stamm, infant sister Donnabelle Stamm, and infant grandson Oliver States.
Memorial Services will be at 10:30 AM Monday, April 29th, at Homestead Baptist Church, 424 Bell Street in Beatrice. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM with the family greeting friends from 3 to 6 PM Sunday, April 28th at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery east of Washington, Kansas.
