Jean Irene (Hanke) Martinez

Jean Irene (Hanke) Martinez, 81 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023. She was born on August 8, 1942 in Beatrice to George and Esther (King) Hanke. Jean graduated from Beatrice High School. She married Manuel Martinez on December 14, 1962. Jean worked in housekeeping at the Beatrice State Developmental Center and enjoyed reading, word puzzles, soap operas and game shows.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Brenda Huskins and significant other Jim Wickwire of Omaha, Valerie Coonce and husband Patrick, Tina Martinez, both of Beatrice; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Sherry Anderson; brother, Terry Hanke, both of Beatrice; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Manuel; son, Jeffrey Martinez; daughter, Rhonda Martinez; great grandson, Manuel Neher; brother, Donald Hanke and wife Loretta; and sister, Barbara Adams and husband Bud.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 8, 2023 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation will be held at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 2 to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
