James A. Goebel, 79 years of age, of Crete, formerly of Beatrice passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at The Gardens Assisted Living Center in Crete. He was born on December 31, 1938 in Beatrice to David and Lucille (Cullison) Goebel. James graduated from Beatrice High School. He married Anita Shum on June 19, 1960. James worked for Farmland Foods in Crete for 23 years and was on the Dorchester Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years. He was a member of the Eagles Club in several different towns and enjoyed bingo, church services where he lived, watching TV, Nebraska Football and Baseball and socializing.
James is survived by 2 sons, Gary Goebel and wife Monica of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Rod Goebel of Bennington, Vermont; daughter, Lori Orson of Phoenix, Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Cody, Madelyn, Otto and Owen Goebel; 2 brothers, Larry Goebel of Roundrock, Texas, Don Goebel of North Platte; ex-wife, Anita Camill of Phoenix, Arizona; and 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers, Steve, Bill and Dick.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 13, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Dr. Wayne Reynolds. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
