Helen Louise Groathouse, 84, Plymouth, Nebraska, died on Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at The Lincoln Ambassador, Lincoln, Nebraska.  She was born on April 24, 1922 at Bluff City, Kansas.  She graduated from Hubbell (Nebraska) High School.  She married John W. Groathouse on April 24, 1947, at Shenandoah, Iowa.  She was a housewife, waitress, babysitter, seamstress and cook.  She loved to sew, watch birds in her front yard, vacuum her cat "Callie", and baby sat many area children.  She was a member of Schopp-Ewing-Nispel Post #342, American Legion Auxiliary, also a member of the 8 & 40 Bonne Chere' Salon 767.

 

Survivors:  sons, John Groathouse and wife, Lois, of Otoe, Nebraska, Ken Groathouse and wife, Theresa, of Weeping Water, Nebraska; daughters, Connie Warnsing and husband, Gene, of Beatrice, Nebraska, Deanna Ebbeka and husband, Jerry, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sandy Swett and husband, Tim, of Plymouth, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jaclyn Cacciatore and husband, Michael, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jessica Groathouse of Denver, Colorado, Megan Bauman and husband, Adam, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Amy Groathouse of Lincoln, Nebraska, Craig Warnsing of Lincoln, Nebraska, Travis Warnsing of Lincoln, Nebraska, Adam Ebbeka of Lincoln, Nebraska, Laura Ebbeka of Lincoln, Nebraska, Nicole Blackstock and husband, Chris, of Lincoln, Nebraska; 6 great grandchildren, Madison, Makaylyn, Clare, Rhianna, Cadence, Joshua, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Alice Stransky of Hebron, Nebraska; brothers-in-law, Harry Groathouse and wife, Elaine, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jim Groathouse and wife, Linda, of Missouri; sister-in-law, Rose Dominy of Lincoln, Nebraska.

 

Preceded in Death:  parents, George and Mary (Ekhoff) Messing; husband, John W. Groathouse, sister, Evelyn Germer, and infant brother

 

Memorial service:  on Friday, July 21, 2006, at Peace United Methodist Church, Plymouth, Nebraska.  Officiating:  Pastor Katherine Bullard.  Burial:  Woodlawn Cemetery, Plymouth, Nebraska.  No Public Viewing.  A register book is available online at http://www.harmanwrightmortuary.com  .  Harman-Wright Mortuary, Plymouth, in charge of arrangements.
