Glen C. Schmidt, 61 years of age, of Crab Orchard passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at CHI Health St. Elizabeth in Lincoln. Glen was born on May 31, 1964 in Beatrice to Kenneth and Joan (Dike) Schmidt. Glen graduated from Norris High School in 1982. He married Arlene McGinty on June 1, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Glen worked 41 years as a Pole Building Carpenter for Pickrell Lumber Company. He was a jack of all trades who could fix anything and could always be found working on something. Glen was an avid animal lover and enjoyed hunting, fishing, western movies, collecting guns, farming and gardening.
Glen is survived by his wife, Arlene; daughter, Victoria Moritz and husband Robert of Beatrice; grandson, Riley Moritz; brothers, Harlan Schmidt and wife Tami of DeWitt, Kevin Schmidt and wife Patty of Illinois, Brian Schmidt and wife Amanda of Grant; sister, Diana Sandoval and husband Maro of Austin, Texas; brother-in-law, Darol Ward McGinty of Pearl, Mississippi; sisters-in-law, Patty Reese and husband Fritz of Jansen, Michelle Oden and husband Dan of Odell, Hope Brown of Blue Springs; aunts, Betty Deats of Omaha, Lela May Dike of Beatrice, Donna Dike of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold Schmidt, Alan Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Raymond McGinty, Tim Brown; sister-in-law, Ruth McGinty; and grandparents, Ben and Anna Schmidt and Roy and Florence Dike.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, May 11, 2026 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Center Cemetery near Cortland. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from noon to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 3 to 5 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Fairbury Animal Clinic in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
