Fayetta Kay Malchow, 64 years of age, of rural Beatrice, Nebraska, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Beatrice Community Hospital. She was born May 3, 1954 in Fairbury, Nebraska to Herman and Adeline (Eberhardt) Schmidt. She graduated from Fairbury High School, class of 1972, and married Roy Malchow on December 16, 1974. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, rural Harbine, Nebraska. Fay loved attending all events for her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Roy; son, Ray Malchow and special friend Kellie Hubka of Beatrice; daughter, Rachel Ebke and husband John of Fairbury; grandchildren, Alexxandra, Alyssa, and Hudson Malchow and Adeline Ebke; brothers, Dennis Schmidt of Kansas, Jim Schmidt and wife Janice of Fairbury, and Harry Schmidt and wife Joanne of Beatrice; sisters, Mary Wiegert of Fairbury, Janet Jantzen and husband Ron of Jansen, Nebraska, Barbara Alwin and husband Steve of Colby, Kansas, Cheryl Swartz and husband Mike of Fairbury; sister-in-law, Sharon Schmidt of Fairbury; brothers-in-law, Roger Malchow and wife Mary Ann of Oklahoma, and Rodney “Butch” Malchow of Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceded in death by parents; nephews, Ron Walker and Tim Schmidt; 3 great-nephews; sister Marilee Perri; brothers, Gary (Joyce) Schmidt and Roger Schmidt; brother-in-law, Harold Wiegert.
A Celebration of Fay’s Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., May 4, 2019 at the Side Trek Bar in Harbine, NE. All are welcome to come and share stories and pay their respects to the family.
