Elizabeth Opal (Corey) Gutierrez, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 25, 2023. Elizabeth was born on August 19, 1948, in Beatrice to Clifford and Opal Corey. Elizabeth grew up in Beatrice before moving to Auburn, New York for a period of time where she graduated High School before eventually settling down in Lincoln where she raised her four children. She had various jobs over the years from working at Russel Stover Candy, Carol Wright Sales, INS, and finally retiring from Southlake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center. Elizabeth loved to garden not only did she have beautiful flowers and lilac bushes in her yard but she also planted a big vegetable garden that produced tons of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and giant zucchini. She loved to sew, she sewed everything from clothes to dolls, she loved to do various crafts, and most of all spend time with her family especially all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Diana (Paul) Hall of Lincoln, John Gutierrez (Krista Trinkle) of Fountain, Colorado, Kelly (Thomas) Michener of Lincoln, Nicole (Nicholas) Poynter of Bloomington, Illinois; grandchildren, Karissa, Cyerra, Christian (Aubrianna), Bethlyn, Tristen (Jenny), Brittany, Dakota (Eric), Jennifer, Blake (Angelique), Isabella (William), Zakary (Stephanie), Brianna (Kevin), Kailee, Makenna, Raegan; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Parker, Skiler, Tylere, Rae’lynn, Ryder, Avalynn; siblings, Jack (Roberta) Corey, Shirley (Myron) Hendrickson, Jerald (Roseann) Corey, Joan (Gene) Orth, Katie (Melvin) Corter, Mike (Pam) Corey; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Opal Corey; her sister, Phyllis Rogers; and great grandson, Apollo James.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor Chuck Bentjen officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation with family present will be held one hour preceding the service on Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
