Elaine Schroeder Obituary

Elaine Anna Charlotte (Haecker) Schroeder, 91 years of age, of Beatrice, formerly of Plymouth passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. She was born on May 12, 1934 in Beatrice to Ervin and Martha (Pohlmann) Haecker. Elaine was baptized on June 3, 1934 by Rev. A. Heckel and confirmed on March 21, 1948 by Rev. E.F. Prange, both at Peace Lutheran Church near Plymouth. She attended rural school #75 through the 8th grade and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1951. Elaine went on to earn an Associate Degree from Fairbury Junior College. Elaine was united in marriage to Wayne Schroeder on June 6, 1954 at Peace Lutheran Church near Plymouth by Rev. E.F. Prange. She taught rural Gage and Jefferson County schools, worked at ASCS Government Offices and later owned and operated a home-based catering business, retiring in 2017. Elaine was active at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beatrice where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and LWMS and served as one of the organists for many years. Wayne and Elaine transferred their membership to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth in January of 2018 where Elaine regularly attended and received the Lord’s Supper for the assurance of the forgiveness of her sins. She enjoyed her family and loved to cook and bake for them as well as for others. Elaine especially enjoyed her time with the great grandchildren and spending more time with the other grandchildren after she retired.

Elaine is survived by daughters, Patricia Christian, Lynne Costin and husband John; sons, Wesley Schroeder and wife Cari, Scott Schroeder; grandchildren, Heather Christian-Riley and husband Steve, Kendal Christian, Ethan Schroeder and wife Rachel, Nicholas Schroeder and wife Sarah, William Costin, Martha Costin; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Ryan and Bethany Schroeder, Emma Schroeder; sisters, Gladys Yost and husband Marvin, Carol Hueske and husband Delbert, Linda Bleich and husband Dale; brothers, Dennis Haecker and wife Kathy, Randall Haecker; sister-in-law, Elaine “Liz” Schroeder; brothers-in-law, Gail Schroeder and wife Patti, Ken Molzer; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Edwin and Rosa (Zimmermann) Schroeder; husband, Wayne on April 26, 2023; sisters, Dorothy who died in infancy, Alice Wiedergreen and husband Wayne, Charlotte Molzer, Darlene Meyer and husband Mel; brother-in-law, Allen Schroeder; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Freese and husband Richard, Marlene Scheele, Sharon Schroeder; nephews, Dion Higgins, Kent Yost; and great nephew, Seth Worster.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth with Pastor Justin Dauck officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday in the fellowship hall at the church. Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery west of Plymouth. Visitation will be held at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Plymouth on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 2 to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran High School with the church elders in charge. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Plymouth in charge of arrangements.
