Dorothy Marie (Stoller) Balderson, 97 years of age, of Cortland, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Tabitha Health in Crete. She was born on July 18th, 1928 on the family farm near Indianola. Dorothy was the daughter of John and Lydia (Bamesburger) Stoller, the third of five children. She attended District 33 grade school near Indianola in Red Willow county and high school at Curtis, operated by the University of Nebraska. After graduation in 1946, she earned her teaching certificate and taught students in a variety of one room schools near McCook, Yutan, and Clatonia. She married Lloyd Balderson in 1950 in McCook and moved to Cortland in 1951 where she helped her husband farm and raise 5 children. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, cross-stitching, reading, quilting, golfing, walking and stayed active into her 90s. She was a long-time member of the Cortland United Church.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Steve and wife Miriam of Fort Collins, Colorado, Victorine Koch and husband Tom of Concordia, Kansas, Stan and wife Dona of Palmyra, Beth Ramirez and husband Alfonso of Dallas, Texas, Edward of Cortland; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; and brother, Edward Stoller and wife Blanche of Urbana, Illinois. She was preceded in death by husband Lloyd in 2016; her parents; brothers, Ronald, John Robert; and sister, Elsie Welk.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, September 15, 2025 at the Cortland United Church in Cortland with Pastor Casey Karges officiating. Inurnment will be at 12:30 PM Monday, September 15, 2025 in the Highland Center Cemetery near Cortland. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at the Cortland United Church in Cortland. Memorials are suggested to the Cortland United Church or the Highland Center Cemetery in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
