Donna Reiswig Obituary

Donna M. (Janzen) Reiswig, 81 years of age, of Cortland passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln. She was born on June 19, 1941 on a farm near Henderson to John and Anna (Wiens) Janzen. Donna grew up in Hamilton County, went to country school and graduated from Aurora High School in 1959. She met her husband Dale while attending Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas in 1961. Their first date was a Tabor College Bible Conference. They married September 8, 1961. Dale and Donna raised 3 children, Darla, Darwin and David. The Reiswig’s moved to Cortland in 1983. They started attending Countryside Alliance Church in Princeton right away. Donna started teaching Countryside Kids for the Cortland Kids at the Community Center. She was a seamstress for over 60 years, even sewing her own wedding dress. Donna never really retired, because she always found ways to keep busy with her hobbies and volunteer work. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, reading inspirational books and gardening. Donna shared her love for her lord, volunteering at her church, teaching Sunday School and VBS. She had traveled to all but 3 states in the US.

Donna is survived by her children, Darla Hoffman, Darwin Reiswig and wife Kris, both of Lincoln, David Reiswig of Cortland; granddaughter, Brianna Hoffman; siblings, Donald Janzen and wife Priscilla of Aurora, Janice Klassen and husband Jake of Inman, Kansas, Gary Janzen and wife Kathy; sister-in-law, LuElla Janzen, both of Hillsboro, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale on September 9, 2006; and brother, Marlin Janzen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Princeton Countryside Alliance Church in Princeton with Pastor Nate Reckling officiating. Private family interment will be in the Cortland Cemetery south of Cortland. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Samaritan’s Purse in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
