Donald James Heidemann, 77 years of age, of Jansen passed away Friday, July 7, 2023 at High Plains Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Lincoln. He was born on Sunday, August 12, 1945 in Fairbury to Fred and Eunice (Churnside) Heidemann. Don graduated from Plymouth High School in 1963. He married Suzanne Schroeder on May 29, 1964 in Plymouth. Don graduated from Fairbury Junior College in 1969 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Kearney State College in 1972. Don and Suzanne returned to the Plymouth area in 1973 where Don farmed until his retirement in 2019. He and his wife were avid Nebraska Football fans attending whenever possible including away and bowl games and enjoyed traveling and playing bridge Don also enjoyed time visiting with the Country Store coffee group.
Don is survived by his wife, Suzanne of Jansen; children, Todd Heidemann and significant other Barb Worster, Michelle Shepard and husband Scott of Sanger, Texas, Wade Heidemann and wife Lorie of Plymouth; grandchildren, Taylor Shepard and special friend Jacob Mendoza of San Antonio, Texas, Zach Shepard of Manhattan, Kansas, Skylar, Samantha and Trevor Heidemann of Plymouth; siblings, Kathleen Nider of Lincoln, Howard Heidemann and wife Linda of Port Huron, Michigan, Robert Heidemann and wife Nancy of Plymouth; sisters-in-law, Joyce Heidemann of Jansen, JoAnn Heidemann of Elkhorn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Harold and Leola (Haecker) Schroeder; siblings, Orlynn Heidemann, Eloyde Mueller and husband Maurice, Loretta Ruhnke, Lee Heidemann, Joan Heidemann, Douglas Heidemann; brothers-in-law, Jack Nider, Duane Schroeder and wife Lois; nieces, Theresa Heidemann, Jodee McBride; and nephew, Darin Heidemann.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Fairbury Cemetery in Fairbury. There will be no viewing but a register book will be available on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from noon to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
