Dianne Kathleen (Lidolph) Trout, 86 years of age, of Filley passed away at her home on Sunday, November 26, 2023. She was born July 28, 1937 to Ralph E. and Alma R. Lidolph in Beatrice, Nebraska. Dianne spent her early childhood in Crab Orchard, Nebraska doing grade school. Her family moved to the Lidolph family farm southeast of Adams in the summer of 1951. She graduated from Adams High School in 1955 where she played on a variety of volleyball and softball teams all four years. She continued her education by attending Peru State College getting a teaching certificate in 1956, and then taught four years at Filley Consolidated School. Dianne married Harold “Bart” Trout at Crab Orchard Methodist Church in June 1957. After teaching, she became a full-time farmer with husband Bart. They had a farrow-to-finish hog operation and an award winning registered black angus cattle herd.
Dianne was active in the community and a member of the Blue Valley Pork Association, Nebraska and National Angus Associations, Virginia Legion Auxiliary 367, charter member of Country Cousins Extension Club, Filley Election Committee, 4-H leader, and board member of Gage County Extension Council. Dianne was also known as “Mom Trout” and the “Cookie Lady” to her kids’ friends. Her house always had open doors. Many non-family kids sat at her kitchen table. Their home was a wholesome hang-out location for so many. Dianne put “family first” as a motto to live by, always ready to tell friends about her family’s accomplishments. She was known as “Grandma Doo” to all the great grandchildren, and she especially enjoyed seeing them develop personalities of their own.
As a multiskilled woman, her favorite leisure time activities were refinishing furniture, flowers, and keeping a neat farmstead. She was proud to keep the family farm in the family for 100 years where she continued to go for gator rides with her dog Izzy up to her final days.
Dianne is survived by her children Eric Trout and wife Carla of Tecumseh, Alisa Trout Schurr and husband Gary Krejci of Grand Island, Chris Trout of Wyoming; grandchildren, Patrick Trout and wife Megan, Kate Trout and husband Michael Barger, Tyler Schurr and wife Kayelon, Miranda Weitzenkamp and husband Bryan, and Kyla and Morgan Trout; great grandchildren, Marshall and Miles Trout, Coralee, Olive, Forest, and Boone Schurr, and Tucker Weitzenkamp; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including loving neighbors AJ and Makayla Wiese, Aubrey, Cade, special family friend, Kim Dugan, and “special longest childhood friend”, Kay Wiens. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Alma Lidolph, sister Barbara Smidt, husband Bart Trout, and great grandchild Opal Grace Schurr.
A Quote from Dianne:
“I celebrate my God through nature. Who could not believe when you watch a tiny seed grow and reproduce itself hundreds of times, or a minute egg and sperm grow into a marvelous living being. I believe.”
Things to note:
“I consider myself a farmer. I’m very proud to provide “the cross” [on Highway 136] for inspiration, the performance angus herd Bart and I developed, and being able to pass the farm onto the next generation after a hundred years in the family.
Sorry guys, no more cookies.”
The entire family thanks everyone for the cards, flowers, and kindness shown to Dianne, aka Mom.
