Darlene Marie (Meirath) Rehm, 97 years of age, of Fairbury, formerly of Plymouth passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Jefferson Community Life and Health Long Term Care in Fairbury. She was born on August 15, 1927 on the family farm west of Plymouth to Otto Jr. and Cora (Megli) Meirath. Darlene was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church at DeWitt. She attended District 75 and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1944. Darlene was united in marriage to Dale Rehm on November 24, 1945 before Dale entered the service. They were blessed with three children, Joyce, Rodney and Karla. They lived and farmed in the Plymouth area before moving to Plymouth in 1998. Darlene was a member of Peace Lutheran Church near Plymouth where she was involved with the quilting group. She enjoyed attending Silver Circle, playing cards and going to the senior centers for cards or dominoes. Being a farmer's wife, Darlene helped in the field and had a big garden. During this time, she raised chickens, baked goods and quilted. After retirement, Darlene went with Dale to entertain at nursing homes and senior centers for 40 years. Darlene made quilts for all her family and several hundred for the needy. She loved her family, having the grandchildren spend the night and attending their activities, playing in the playhouse, going fishing, playing ball and walking down the road picking up pretty stones.
Darlene is survived by her children, Joyce Zimmerman and husband Larry of Plymouth, Rod Rehm and wife Deb of Beatrice, Karla Hays and fiancé Mike Banahan of Diller; grandchildren, Jodi Zimmerman, Scott Zimmerman and wife Connie, Todd Zimmerman and wife Sissy, Andy Rehm and wife Elaine, Amy Walker and husband Doug, Holly Barta and fiancé Jeff Stewart, Kylie Widhelm, Bethany Trammell and husband Taylor; great grandchildren, Zayne Zimmerman, Brett Zimmerman, Rylee Zimmerman, Seth Zimmerman and wife Ali, Abbie Zimmerman, Josie Zimmerman, Kinsley Conner, Hadden Woods, Natalie Barta, Cheston Stewart, Kyson Stewart, Eden Widhelm, Paisley Widhelm, Gracie Widhelm and baby Trammell on the way; sisters-in-law, Alverta Wells, Hazel Rehm; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale in 2009; grandson, Richard Barta; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, May 9, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church west of Plymouth. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM on Friday in the church basement. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Plymouth from 2 to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the church elders. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Plymouth in charge of arrangements.
