Darlene I. (Breunsbach) Kunc, 95 years of age, of Beatrice passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. She was born on May 13, 1931 in Virginia to Ernest and Elizabeth (Rissmann) Breunsbach. Darlene graduated from Virginia High School in 1948 and went on to attend the Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln. She married Dean Kunc on March 8, 1952. In 1953, they moved to the family farm near Crab Orchard and remained there for 33 years. Darlene was a supervisor at the Martin Luther Home for 14 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed cooking, bicycling, gardening and especially her grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by her children, DeeAnn Dyas and husband Philip of Amarillo, Texas, Wayne Kunc of Sparks, Nevada, Mary Corey Clarke and husband Frank of Beatrice; 7 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean on May 3, 2016; and sister, Barbara Hargleroad.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 Friday, June 19, 2026 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. There will be no viewing but a register book will be available on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from noon to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Auxiliary in Virginia in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
