Curtis Dean Schuerman, 57 years of age, of Beatrice, formerly of Swanton passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024. He was born on May 7, 1967 in Beatrice to Roger and Ann (Southwick) Schuerman. Curt graduated from Tri County High School in 1985 and earned an associates degree in diesel mechanics from Southeast Community College in Milford in 1987. He married Emma “Dee” Hutchison on July 22, 1989. After college, Curt worked several places including Vise Grip, Metal Tech, Dempsters and the last 14 years as a tool sharpener at NEAPCO. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt. Curt enjoyed hunting, fishing, Harley Davidson motorcycle riding with his “brothers”, helping on the farm, playing with his meat (smoking meat) and especially time with his grandchildren.
Curt is survived by his wife, Dee; children, Thomas Zweifel and wife Whitney of Gretna, Ashley Rowden and husband Boomer of Beatrice, Zachary Schuerman of Swanton; grandchildren, Ryan, Lane and Bryn Zweifel, Jerry, Aria, Ryker and MaCoy Rowden; mother, Ann Smith and husband Bill of Bloomfield; sisters, Cindy Bergmeier and special friend David Rademacher of Beatrice, Teresa Schuerman and special friend Jonn Hetherington of Fremont, Jenny Schuerman of Beatrice; mother-in-law, Patricia Hutchison of Fairbury; niece, Kelsea Schuerman; nephews, Blake Bergmeier, Brandon Bergmeier and wife Chelsea; great nieces, MacKenna and Brynlee Bergmeier; great nephew, Rylan Bergmeier; 1 great niece or nephew cooking; step siblings, Christina Neeley, Alex Strickland and wife Kathy, Diane Miller, Cindy Hicks and husband Mike; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the DeWitt Community Center in DeWitt with Pastor Travis Panning officiating. Harley or Nebraska attire is suggested. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery west of DeWitt. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM on Wednesday at the Community Center. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from 2 to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
