Carline Mencl

Carline Marie (Jurgens) Mencl, 94 years of age, of Beatrice passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on May 4, 1931 at Adams to Thee H. and Tina (Parde) Jurgens. Carline graduated from Filley High School in 1948. She married Ernest Mencl on June 25, 1950 at American Lutheran Church. Carline lived in the Filley and Virginia areas until moving to Beatrice in 1959. She worked at the Filley Bank for 5 years and then worked 25 years at Formfit Rogers in Beatrice. Carline was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dorcas Society, Lydia Mary Circle of LWML and Alter Guild. Over the years, she helped with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, various swim teams and gave countless hours volunteering at the Kensington, Beatrice Manor and the Good Samaritan Society. Carline enjoyed water skiing, traveling, reading, bowling and later in life, golfing weekly up until 2 months ago.

Carline is survived by her daughter, Deborah Ann Mencl of Chandler, Arizona; sons, David E. Mencl and wife Barbara of Hutchinson, Kansas, Douglas E. Mencl and wife Elizabeth of Mingo, Iowa; grandchildren, Jason Sullivan and wife Ann, Brian Mencl and wife Jenny, Justin Mencl and wife Jennifer; great grandchildren, Ben Sullivan, Jake Sullivan, Lainey Mencl, Isla Mencl; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest “Ernie” Mencl on December 6, 2005; and infant daughter, Kathy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 27, 2025 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Pastor Karl Hollibaugh officiating. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 AM in the church basement. Prior interment will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, December 27, 2025 in the Virginia Cemetery south of Virginia. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from noon to 8 PM and not at the church on Saturday. The family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 PM Friday evening. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Virginia Cemetery in care of the mortuary.
