Bill J. Harris, 73 years of age, of Beatrice, formerly of Arnold, Callaway and Lincoln passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022. He was born on July 18, 1949 near Sturgis, South Dakota to Lillion and Mabel (Matheson) Harris. Bill married Patty Launer and they later divorced. He married Carol Grieser on September 19, 2004. Years ago, he was a cowboy and rode bulls in rodeos. Bill was very active in Boy Scouts where he was an Assistant Scout Master, Scout Master and Commissioner and passed his love of scouting on to his sons who both became Eagle Scouts. He was a member and past vice president of the Rock Creek Renegades Black Powder Club of Sprague/Martell. Bill’s Indian name was Gray Bear and he was also a member of the Silver Tomahawk Honor Society Neolin at Camp Eastman Boy Scout Camp in Keokuk, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Chelise Harris-Scott of Seward, Cassandra Dinges and husband Jeremy of Milford; son, Trenton Harris of Broken Bow; step-son, Robbie Grieser and wife Amanda of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; mother-in-law, Lucile Hemmer; sister, Kim Watson; sister-in-law, Debra Rhodes, both of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Carl Hildebrand; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Robert Charles McNahon, Sr.; son-in-law, Cody Scott; brothers, Hank Orr, Dale Harris, Robert Charles McNahon, Jr., Alan Lundquist; sisters, Cathy Hildebrand, Amy McNahon; and father-in-law, Bill Hemmer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
