Beverly J. (Nickeson) Fortner, 84 years of age, of Lincoln passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at The Grace Place in Lincoln. She was born on November 5, 1939 in Beatrice to Roy and Faye (Wells) Nickeson. Beverly graduated from Beatrice High School in 1957 and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for business. She retired in November of 1996 after working 39 ½ years for Farm Service Agency, formerly Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Services. Beverly loved visiting Branson, Missouri several times a year, Survivor, Amazing Race and Big Brother reality shows along with old game shows. She enjoyed traveling, bus tours to casinos, Elvis, visiting with her sister and hanging out with friends going out to eat and playing rummikub, bingo and pitch.
Beverly is survived by her sister, Shirley Schmale; nephews, Rod Schmale and wife Eileen, Kip Williams, all of Beatrice; niece, Kristie Tallon and husband Dave of Raymond; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Nickeson; sister, Charlotte Williams and husband Butch; brother-in-law, Vernon Schmale; and nephew, Jeff Williams.
Private Funeral Services will be held at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Interment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. There will be no visitation. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
