William “Bill” H. Morehead, 89 years of age, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Burchard passed away Sunday March 11, 2018 at his home in Plano. He was born on July 21, 1928 in rural Pawnee County, Nebraska to Elmer and Ruth (Madden) Morehead. Bill graduated from Burchard High School. He retired from the United States Army as a Major. Bill married Verna Stake on February 12, 1951 in Burchard. Bill retired from Montgomery Wards in 1983, after retirement he owned Chiquita Cafe in Summerfield, KS. He was a member of the Beatrice Masonic Lodge 26, Scottish Rite Valley of Lincoln, Sesostris Shrine, Sesostis Shrine Mustangs, Burchard United Methodist Church and served on the Burchard Cemetery Association for many years. He enjoyed time with family, working in the yard, his dog Jesse, driving his Mustang convertible, and meeting friends for coffee.
Bill is survived by his wife, Verna of Plano, Texas; son, Steven Morehead and wife Carol of Wymore; daughter, Christina Bjorlo and husband Magne of Plano, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Steven Morehead II, Crystal Francisco-Morehead and Guillmermo, Birgitte Olsen and husband Rune, Kristin Bjorlo; 6 great grandchildren, Lorenzo, Fay-Ana, Valeria, Elias, Solveig and Didrik; sister-in-law, Jackie Stake of Beatrice; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; 1 brother; 2 sisters; and 1 brother-in-law.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, 11:00 AM April 27th, 2018 at the Burchard United Methodist Church in Burchard. Inurnment will be in the Burchard Cemetery near Burchard. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
