Warren Reid Obituary

Warren Edward Reid, 95 years of age, of Dupont, Washington passed away August 27, 2017 at the Patriots Landing in Dupont, Washington. He was born on December 10, 1921 in Beatrice to James and Mildred (Thomas) Reid. Warren, a retired Lt. Col. in the United States Air Force had a remarkable career beginning in WWII. He was a pilot with the Ninth Air Force, Photo Reconnaissance Squadron, P-38E/J Lightning. Warren had many photographic combat missions prior to D-Day, June 6, 1944. He was assigned to the 19th Tactical Air Command Staff as a Staff Reconnaissance Officer. Warren had the privilege of briefing many American Commanders including Gen. Dwight Eisenhauer, Gen. George Patton and Gen. Otto Weyland. Also in his career, he was an intelligence officer and served on the National Security Sub Committee, Assistant Air Attache to the American Embassy in Pakistan and Joint Services Intelligence Staff in England. After retiring from the Air Force, Warren and his wife moved to south Texas where he had citrus orchards. When family needed them, they moved to Everett, Pennsylvania and at the age of 90, Warren moved to Patriots Landing in Dupont, Washington. Warren loved his family and was devoted to helping his family in pursuing their education and security. He was a man of high integrity.

Warren is survived by his sister, Marilyn Reid Worley Bram; nephews, Clay Warren Worley and wife Judy and their children Reid and Nora Worley, Travis Worley, Alex Sleighter; nieces, Samantha Worley, Andrea Robertson, Susan Sleighter and Vondele Sleighter. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Althea; and brother, Wayne Reid.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 25, 2018 at Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice with Pastor Mark Schutt officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Boys Town in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
