Vernon Herbert Rickers

Vernon H. Rickers, 89, Odell, NE died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. He was born November 1, 1928 and attended school near Wymore, NE. Vernon married Marilyn Blackwood July 7, 1951 in Lanham, KS.  He served his country in the U.S. Army from March of 1951 to February of 1953. Vernon and his wife moved to her family farm and farmed until his death.  He enjoyed collecting antique tractors, farm equipment and was a great source of knowledge for anyone with questions. In the 70’s he enjoyed taking his family to Threshing Bee’s.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Odell; daughters, Suann Brown and husband Steven of Frisco, TX and Tanya Malchow and husband LaVerne of Beatrice; son, Kent Rickers of Greeley, CO; 6 grandchildren, Erin Sokolik, Seth Malchow, Leah Malchow, Justin Rickers, Sean Rickers and Stacy Rickers; great-grandchildren, Samantha Rickers, Brandon Rickers, Brennan Sokolik and Jackson Rickers; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sena (Henrichs) Rickers; son, Kevin Rickers; daughter, Lisa Rickers; brother, Arthur Rickers and sister, Agnes Moser.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Odell with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating.  Burial will be in the Odell Cemetery. A memorial is established to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Odell.  Visitation will be 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
