Verlyn "Walt" L. Walters

Verlyn “Walt” L. Walters, 75 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Monday, February 11, 2019. He was born in Beatrice on June 5, 1943, the son of Ted and Ruby (Rains) Walters. Verlyn attended Beatrice High School and served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. He worked in general construction and enjoyed being outside, working with his hands, family, road trips and playing pool.

Verlyn is survived by his special friend, Linda Diehl; sisters, Sharyl Birdwell, both of Beatrice, Connie Meints and husband David of Allen, Texas, Nancy Wilken of Lincoln; brothers, Bradley Pelham and wife Lily of Papillion, Marlan Pelham and wife Nadine, James Pelham, Charles Pelham, all of Oregon, Kevin Pelham and wife Dorothy of San Diego, California, Chris Pelham of Oregon; step-sons, Jimmy Corkery, David Trauernicht and wife Tiffany; step-daughter, Dawn Jeardoe and husband Patrick, all of Beatrice; nieces and nephews, Rick Hess, Randy Hess, Robyn Powell, Chad Meints, Amanda Meints, Joshua Wilken, Melody Thweatt, Jennifer Tomb, Melanie Leszczynski, Jenna Crothers, Bradley Pelham; and 20 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; companion for over 20 years, Carol Corkery; brother, John Pelham; brother-in-law, Raymond Birdwell; former brother-in-law, Mike Hess; and nephews, Rodney Hess and Adam Wilken.

Memorial Services with military rites will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February, 23, 2019 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor Dan Wills officiating. Private inurnment at a later date will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
