Velma “Jo” (Dingman) Ramsey of Beatrice, age 84, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on June 5, 1934 in Lincoln to Harry Sr. and Kathryn (Reed) Dingman. Jo graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952 and earned her Bachelor and Master Degrees from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She retired after 20+ years as an elementary school librarian in the Beatrice Public School System. Jo was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, the Beatrice Retired Teachers Association, and the Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority. Jo traveled to Spain when she was younger and took many bus trips around the midwest. She also loved reading, especially her Bible, and listening to religious programs on the radio, along with listening to Nebraska football games.
Jo is survived by her daughter, Robyn Cantin and husband Robert of Olathe, Kansas; grandsons, Matthew and Paul Cantin; brother, Harry Dingman Jr. and wife Sandra of Lincoln; nephews, Harry Dingman III and wife Holly, and Tom Dingman, both of Lincoln; and 2 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice, with Pastor Dan Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to a Velma Jo Ramsey Scholarship Fund in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
