Steven J. Durante

Steven J. Durante, 70 years of age, of Odell passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. He was born on May 30, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Irene (Cooper) Durante. After graduating from high school in 1968, Steve enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country during the Vietnam War from September 8, 1967 to February 24, 1971. Steve married Charlene Smith on December 16, 2000 in DeWitt. In the past, he owned Quality Care Home Maintenance in Minocqua, Wisconsin and drove school buses for Laidlaw Busing in Beatrice. Steve was a member of the VFW and DAV in Beatrice and on the Veteran’s Advisory Group at the VA in Lincoln. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his dogs.

Steve is survived by his wife, Charlene; sister, Dolores Fremter and husband Keven of Redding, California; mother-in-law, Arlene Smith of DeWitt; sister-in-law, Brenda Yott and fiancé Jerry Beaudette of Stanton; nieces, Dawn Gronich, Denise Villanueva; nephews, Tylor and Forrest Jamison; and his beloved dogs, Majic, Misty, Sunshine and Sir Oliver; He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Don Smith; and brother-in-law, Eugene Yott, Sr.

Memorial Services will be held on the family acreage at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary & Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
