Shelby Elizabeth Erb, 16 years of age, of Beatrice passed away after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer on Monday May 28, 2018. She was born in Beatrice on August 20, 2001 to Richard and Linda (Bailey) Erb. Shelby attended Beatrice High School until her illness no longer allowed her to. She had worked at Burger King. Shelby enjoyed everything tie dye, music, her dog Sheba, cruising with friends, gymnastics, playing in the water and especially smiling. A quote that was special to Shelby that she would like everyone to remember was “Don’t let the world change your smile, let your smile change the world”.
Shelby is survived by her parents, Rich and Linda Erb; brothers, Richey Erb, Donny Casados and wife Lanie, all of Beatrice; grandmother, Jene Erb of St. Joseph, Missouri; grandfather, Ricky Schwisow and wife Kim of Pickrell; her dog, Sheba; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dick Erb; grandmother, Betty Schwisow; and aunt, Janet Bailey.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice with Pastor Mark Schutt officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Per Shelby’s request, colored attire is strongly recommended, especially tie dye and no black. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 8 PM Friday, June 1, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary.
