Ronald J. Barber Sr.

Ronald J. Barber Sr., 81 years of age, of Diller passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center. He was born on July 20, 1937 in Beatrice to Ralph and Gladys (Powell) Barber. Ron was baptized at the Salvation Army Church in Beatrice. He married Carol Hackbarth on July 16, 1958. Ron was very strong and determined, never giving up through illness and surgeries the last few years. He loved Nebraska football and the Denver Broncos but mostly, his wife and family.

Ron is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Linda Garcia and husband John of Diller, Chris Zaiger and husband Lou of Essex, Iowa; son, Ronald Jr. and wife Jackie of Harbine; grandchildren, Jason Lichty, Ryan Lichty and wife Mindy, Faren Barber and fiance Todd Stark, Devin Garcia and special friend Kodi Gruber, Tanner Barber and special friend Crystal Schmidt, Chasity Zaiger and special friend Derek Wallace; 9 great grandchildren; brothers, Kenny Barber Sr. of Grand Island, Harry Powell Jr. and wife Roberta of Colorado; and sisters, Carol Price of Lincoln and Neta Brown of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Ralph; and sisters, Darlene Walters and Etta Crane.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, December 28, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
