Rodney D. Minzel

Rodney D. Minzel, 76 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at his home. He was born on March 9, 1941 in Seward County to August Herman Julius and Mabel (Smetter) Minzel. Rod graduated from Malcolm High School in 1959. He married Andrea Monia in 1960 and they later divorced. Rod married Rhonda Skinner on May 23, 1981. He worked for his brother-in-law Fran running a feed business from 1960 to 1967 in Tobias. Rod moved to Lincoln in 1967 and worked in Quality Control for Goodyear for several years. He moved to Beatrice in 1982 and worked in Quality Control at NEAPCO for 15 years. Rod was a handyman all of his life always holding a job. He was a member of the Beatrice Eagles Aerie #531 and enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting trap.

Rod is survived by his wife, Rhonda; son, Randy and fiancé Sherri Gray of Ashland; 2 daughters, Andrea Berry and fiancée Tim Puhalla, Alisa Lauby, both of Beatrice; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Alice Brakhage of Tobias, Joyce Craiglow and husband Richard of Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rodney Guy Minzel; and brother-in-law, Francis Brakhage.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 18, 2017 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Evergreen Home Cemetery. A register book will be available to sign from noon - 8 PM with family greeting friends from 2 – 4 PM Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
