Melvadine Kathryn (VanLaningham) Arntt

Melvadine K. (VanLaningham) Arntt, 90 years of age of Beatrice passed away June 3, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice.  She was born in her parent’s home in Filley on November 6, 1927 to Arthur and Ada (Whitehead) VanLaningham.  Melvadine graduated from Filley High School.  She married Harold “Jack” Arntt on June 5, 1949 in Beatrice and lived in the Odell area until 2001 when she moved to Beatrice.  Melvadine was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.  She was a Nurse Aid at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Home, then worked for Callan Industries in Odell and finished her working career at the Good Samaritan Home in the laundry.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, putting puzzles together and coloring in her adult coloring books.  She loved spending time with her family. 

Melvadine is survived by her daughters, Sandy Colgrove and husband Allen of Odell, Tammie Duensing and husband Ron of Fairbury.  Three grandchildren, Todd Klaus and wife Jackie of Beatrice, Nicole (Duensing) Spooner and husband Jeremy of Thornton, CO and Amanda (Duensing) Kranjc and husband Shawn of Bennington, NE.  Step-granddaughter, Shelly Colgrove Habluetzel and husband Scott.  3 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters Donna (VanLaningham) Huls and husband Larry of Beatrice; Linda (VanLaningham) Siems and husband Wayne of Peculiar, MO; 2 brothers, Lloyd VanLaningham and wife Carolina of Beatrice; Ronnie VanLaningham and wife Nancy of Florence, Montana and sisters-in-law, Eileen VanLaningham of Clatonia and Kay VanLaningham of Lincoln, AR; many nieces and nephews.

Melvadine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; son-in-law, Alan “Tiny” Klaus; 4 brothers,   Leonard, Harold, Harvey and Fred VanLaningham; 5 sisters-in-law, Eileen Simmons, Betty, Dorothy , Lois & Norma VanLaningham; brothers-in-law, Richard Arntt and Virgil Simmons; 2 nieces and 1 great niece.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Beatrice with Pastor Tim Brisbois, officiating.  A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. in the church basement.  Lunch will be served immediately following the service at the church with interment to follow the luncheon at the Odell Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the Harman-Wright Mortuary Thursday 9 AM-8 PM with the family greeting friends from 6PM-8PM.  Memorials are established to the family’s choice.  Condolences may also be left online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com  Harman-Wright Mortuary of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
